Bird Monitoring in the Back Bay of Biloxi

About the Project
This project involves monitoring birds in the Back Bay of Biloxi. We are deploying 32 game cameras to 16 different sites across the Back Bay. These cameras will allow us to monitor which bird species are using the types of shorelines available. The different types of shoreline include natural marsh, riprap, and breakwaters. Coinciding with this bird monitoring effort will be living shoreline construction of a 2.5 mile length portion of the Back Bay. The living shoreline will be built from Hiller Park to Keesler Air Force Base. This living shoreline will help prevent continual erosion while establishing habitat for wildlife.

We need volunteers
We need volunteers to go through the game camera photos and help identify birds in the photos. If you don’t have any knowledge of bird species, you can still help! We will need assistance identifying if there is a bird or not in the pictures and I will identify bird species. We need all the volunteers we can get, so please consider signing up!
