Community’s RISE

About the Project

Community’s RISE (Resilience in SLR Education), uses a holistic strategy to increase communities’ awareness of sea-level rise impacts along the Gulf. This project will enable residents and municipalities to prepare for current and future flood risks and associated sea-level rise hazards.

This project will support enhanced resilience via three distinct avenues:

SLR in the Classroom

Increase capacity for science and social studies high school educators to include a solutions-focused sea-level rise curriculum in their courses

Community Connection Dialogue

Connect municipal officials with informed constituents who want to actively support sea-level rise resilience activities.

Pop-Ins

Increase awareness of sea-level rise and associated risks among sectors of the community previously unengaged in sea-level rise science and resilience

About the Program for Local Adaptation to Changing environments

PLACE fosters a network of individuals and organizations working to enhance resilience to changing environmental conditions. It increases access to and application of relevant research, stimulates dialogue around vulnerabilities and adaptation strategies, and provides resources that facilitate resilience and mitigation actions. These goals are achieved by working directly with stakeholders across the Northern Gulf to identify critical gaps and address them by leveraging the resources and expertise of the network.
