Cobia & Tripletail Research

This project brings together leading researchers, state agencies, and anglers from across the Gulf to improve our understanding and management of cobia and tripletail populations.
Using a combination of acoustic telemetry, satellite tagging, conventional tagging, biological sampling, and genetics, the project will examine movement patterns, migration corridors, stock structure, exploitation rates, and potential climate-related shifts in distribution and life history.
project Goals
By building upon existing telemetry networks and expanding collaborative tagging efforts across all five Gulf states, we aim to provide managers with the information needed to improve future stock assessments and support effective regional management of these highly migratory recreational fisheries.
