Regional Reef Fish Collaborative

Our program leads a regional collaborative of Sea Grant fisheries Extension specialists, university scientists, and fisheries managers.
We build upon the conventional unidirectional flow of information (i.e., from research to management to stakeholder) by working directly with stakeholders on a consistent basis to identify pressing research needs and communicate those needs to the scientific and management community (i.e., from stakeholder to research and management).
project gOALS
We aim to develop and implement Extension and outreach programming related to reef fish research and management in the South Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico.

FISHES: Fishermen Invested in Science, Healthy Ecosystems, and Sustainability
Our annual FISHES: Fishermen Invested in Science, Healthy Ecosystems, and Sustainability course is designed to extend practical, science-based information about fisheries management, fisheries science, and sustainability to fish enthusiasts in a user-friendly format. The course is held every fall in coastal Mississippi. For more details, click here.

Annual meetings
Commercial and recreational sector stakeholders, fisheries management representatives, and members of the project team meet annually to discuss topics highlighted in our longitudinal surveys.

FISHES course
